The Kummer Missouri S&T Foundation Board of Directors at Missouri S&T welcomed a new member in 2024: Susan Simmons, retired senior resident engineer at Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis.

“I have worked closely with Sue for many years on various activities related to her service on the Board of Trustees, and I know we will benefit from her engineering sensibilities, management experience and passion for S&T,” says Richard Brow, Kummer Institute executive director of operations.

Simmons earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from S&T in 1984 and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis in 1995. S&T honored her with an Award of Professional Distinction in chemical engineering in 2015.

She joined Anheuser-Busch in 1986 as a project engineer responsible for large capital project execution, and retired in 2016 as senior resident engineer. She joined the St. Louis brewery’s senior leadership team in 2002.

At S&T, Simmons is a member of the Academy of Chemical and Biochemical Engineers and served for many years on the department’s Industrial Advisory Council. She also served on the Career Opportunities and Employer Relations Advisory Council and the Corporate Development Council.

She has been a guest lecturer for the Chancellor’s Leadership Academy, a commencement speaker and a Board of Trustees member since 2016, including time as president. She was inducted into the Women’s Hall of Fame in 2005.
